Position title
Experienced Drain Cleaning Technician
Description

The Experienced Drain Cleaning Technician is a vital field-service role responsible for diagnosing, clearing, and repairing complex residential and commercial drainage systems. This position requires a mix of mechanical skill, advanced diagnostic technology usage, and exceptional customer service to resolve emergency backups and perform preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

Advanced Diagnostics: Utilize high-definition sewer cameras and locators to inspect underground lines, identifying structural failures, root intrusions, or heavy scale buildup. You will be responsible for interpreting video footage to provide customers with accurate repair options.

Drain Clearing & Jetting: Operate a variety of specialized equipment, including heavy-duty electric snakes, high-pressure water jetters, and mechanical descaling tools to restore full flow to main lines, floor drains, and grease traps.

System Repairs & Solutions: Perform minor plumbing repairs related to drainage, such as replacing P-traps, clearing toilet obstructions, and installing clean-out access points. You will also provide professional recommendations for long-term solutions like trenchless pipe lining or excavation when necessary.

Field Documentation: Maintain precise digital records of work performed, including "before and after" inspection videos, material logs, and detailed invoices. You must ensure all service vehicles are stocked, cleaned, and organized for daily dispatch.

Qualifications

Proven Experience: 3+ years of dedicated experience in drain cleaning or service plumbing, with a deep understanding of gravity-fed and pressurized drainage systems.

Technical Mastery: Proficiency with drum machines, sectional cables, and hydro-jetting trailers. Experience with trenchless technology or pipe bursting is a significant plus.

Licensing & Safety: A valid driver’s license with a clean record is required. Knowledge of OSHA trench safety and bloodborne pathogen protocols is essential for handling sanitary waste systems.

Customer Excellence: Strong interpersonal skills to explain technical issues to property owners and provide transparent pricing in a high-pressure, "emergency" service environment.
